Activities

Drive or take the Island Explorer around the Park Loop Road where you can stop to hike up mountains, visit Thunder Hole, and enjoy Maine’s rugged coastline.

Cadillac Mountain, the highest mountain in Acadia National park, is just one of many mountains to climb. A map of the island’s trails may be obtained at Acadia National Park Visitor Center.

Other activities include horse-drawn carriage rides, sailing, fishing, golfing, bird watching, shopping, ocean cruises, and eating at many of the fine restaurants. Some additional great spots are Pretty Marsh, Echo Lake (beach area for children), Sand Beach, and Somes Sound, which is the only fjord on the east coast.
